Puducherry roads to get four-lane highways and flyovers

The Union territory of Puducherry is planning major upgrades to its road infrastructure to address traffic congestion and improve urban connectivity, officials said.

The plan includes a 4-kilometre four-lane flyover connecting Indira Gandhi Square, Rajiv Gandhi Square and Marapalam, and a 13.5-kilometre four-lane arterial road from Ariyankuppam to Mullodai, reported The Times of India.

Officials said the work is supported by Rs 437 crore in funding from the Union government.

The arterial road and proposed flyover are intended to expand the road network and improve east-west connectivity in the city.

Officials said the projects aim to modernise transport links, support tourism growth and improve quality of life for residents.
