Jaipur Metro Phase II construction begins after 15 years

Construction of Jaipur Metro Phase II has officially begun after a delay of 15 years, marking the start of the city’s long-awaited Metro expansion programme.

The new phase is expected to strengthen Jaipur’s public transport network by improving connectivity across the city and providing commuters with an additional rapid transit option. Authorities expect the expansion to help reduce road congestion and support sustainable urban mobility.

The project had remained pending for several years because of administrative and financial hurdles. With the required approvals now in place, construction has commenced, bringing the expansion closer to reality.
