Indore approves Rs 177.33 crore road and flyover works, backs Aerocity development

The Indore Development Authority (IDA) board has approved major infrastructure works worth Rs 177.33 crore, including two flyovers and a road linking the Agra-Mumbai Bypass with Scheme No. 5.

The board gave administrative approval to Rs 76.59 crore for a flyover at Radisson Square on the Eastern Ring Road and Rs 94.18 crore for another at Robot Square. Both projects are aimed at easing traffic congestion once completed.

Another Rs 6.56 crore was approved for the Master Plan MR-09 road connecting the Agra-Mumbai Bypass to Scheme No. 5. According to an official release, these three projects together take the total non-scheme approvals to Rs 177.33 crore.

The board also approved the development of land near Scheme No. 172 as an “Aerocity”. The land had come to the IDA from the state government in exchange for plots allotted to TCS and Infosys under Scheme No. 151-169-B.

As part of the Aerocity plan, Rs 52.61 crore has been sanctioned for a 75-metre-wide road of roughly 1.5 km connecting the land to the airport. The road is part of the Indore Development Plan-2021.

The authority said the Aerocity project is expected to support hotels and other commercial and service activity near the airport.

Separately, the board cleared Rs 240.93 crore for development works in Scheme No. 172 on Airport Road, aimed at accelerating infrastructure growth in the city’s peripheral areas.

The board also approved Rs 15 crore for comprehensive development and appointment of a consultant for about 3.83 hectares of land adjoining Meghdoot Park under Scheme No. 54.

An Rs 33.95-crore tender submitted by the lowest bidder for development work in Scheme No. 97 Part-2 was also approved.

The latest approvals add to a series of road and urban-development projects being taken up by the IDA across Indore, with several of the new works concentrated around the Airport Road and eastern parts of the city.
