Gurugram to build stormwater drain near SPR to tackle flooding

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is undertaking a 550-metre stormwater drain project near Sectors 62 and 65 along the Southern Peripheral Road to address recurring waterlogging, officials said.

The project is estimated to cost around Rs 2 crore and will connect previously disconnected drains after a land litigation issue was resolved. Officials said the work is expected to take six months once the tender is awarded, reported The Times of India.

In addition, construction is underway on a 350-metre main carriageway road and a 170-metre service road, with the works estimated to cost about Rs 4.8 crore and scheduled for completion by November.

Residents who have faced flooding for nearly a decade welcomed the development, officials said.
