Ghaziabad to Develop New Green Belt Along Hindon River

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has announced plans to create a new green belt along the Hindon River to improve the city’s environment and provide open spaces for residents.

Officials said the project will involve large-scale plantation, walking tracks, and cycling lanes along identified stretches of the riverfront.

The move aims to check pollution levels, reduce urban heat, and add recreational zones for residents.

The green belt will be developed in phases, with the first phase focusing on the Vijay Nagar and Raj Nagar Extension areas.

Officials said the initiative is being taken up as part of the National Green Tribunal’s directions to rejuvenate the Hindon River and improve its ecosystem.

In addition to plantations, the project will also focus on strengthening embankments to prevent flooding during monsoon. The GDA said detailed tenders will be floated soon to select agencies for implementation.
