Nashik says roads will not be dug up for 5–6 years after Kumbh works

The Nashik Municipal Corporation has said roads being redeveloped under preparations for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh will not require digging for the next five to six years after completion.

Officials said integrated underground utility ducts are being installed beneath key roads across the city.

The ducts are designed to accommodate water pipelines, sewer lines, electricity cables and telecom infrastructure.

Work is currently underway on 28 major roads linked to Kumbh preparations, reported Times of India.

Civic authorities said the approach is aimed at preventing repeated excavation for utility repairs and installations.

The system is expected to improve road durability and reduce disruption to traffic movement.

The infrastructure push forms part of broader preparations ahead of the religious gathering scheduled in 2027.

Officials indicated that long-term planning was being prioritised in the road redevelopment works.

The move reflects growing focus on integrated urban infrastructure planning.
