India, Netherlands form joint committee to boost trade and investment ties

India and the Netherlands have set up a Joint Trade and Investment Committee (JTIC) to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation, the commerce and industry ministry said on Friday.

An MoU was signed between the two countries to formalise the mechanism.

According to the ministry, the JTIC will serve as a dedicated platform to review bilateral trade relations, promote two-way investments, address investment and trade barriers, and explore collaboration in sectors of mutual interest.

Under the MoU, the committee will meet annually, with meetings held alternately in India and the Netherlands to ensure continuity and sustained institutional engagement.

The JTIC will be co-chaired by the Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Director General (Foreign Economic Relations) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The committee will include delegations from both sides comprising government officials and other designated members.

The ministry said the objectives of the JTIC include contributing to the identification and elimination of trade and investment barriers.
