Nashik gets additional Rs 300 crore for road upgrades ahead of Kumbh Mela

The Kumbh Mela Authority has cleared an additional Rs 300 crore for upgrading major roads in Nashik city as part of preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela (2026–28).

Officials said the new sanction covers nine road projects under Phase 2 of the development plan.

The proposals include the stretch from Chandshi Bridge to Nandini River Bridge (Rs 59.6 crore) and the link between Agar Takli STP Bridge and Nilgri Bag, forming part of the city’s ring-road network.

Work on these roads is scheduled to be completed by March 2027, reported The Times of India.

Earlier, the authority had sanctioned Rs 970 crore for 21 roads under Phase 1.

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) later sought approval for 17 additional roads worth Rs 600 crore, of which nine have now been cleared.

Municipal officials said the upgrades are aimed at improving connectivity and reducing congestion as the city prepares to host millions of pilgrims.

Tenders for Phase 1 have already been awarded.
