Yogi Adityanath Stresses Planned Urban Development, Slum Redevelopment

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to ensure planned, coordinated execution of all urban development works, with a focus on slum redevelopment, sanitation, and infrastructure upgrades.

During a high-level review meeting, Adityanath emphasised that poor coordination between departments often delays projects and instructed officials to adopt a joint action plan with strict timelines.

He said that cleanliness, water supply, drainage, roads, garbage collection, and street lighting in slum areas must be improved through continuous monitoring. “Urban bodies must take direct responsibility for slum development instead of relying solely on contractors,” the chief minister said.

He also ordered the construction of additional community toilets, the provision of basic amenities in newly incorporated urban areas, and accountability in cases of negligence.

Under the Smart City Mission, Adityanath directed officials to design projects that improve civic services while boosting municipal revenues through PPP-based initiatives such as shopping complexes and parking facilities.

He also warned against the development of unauthorised colonies, urging early preventive action to maintain the planned structure of cities.
