Trade Shows to Be Organised in All 75 Uttar Pradesh Districts from October 9

The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced that eight-day trade shows will be organised across all 75 districts of the state from 9 to 16 October, offering entrepreneurs free stalls to showcase and promote their products.

According to an official statement, Khadi and Village Industries Minister Rakesh Sachan made the announcement during a seminar on “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion” held on the fourth day of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) in Greater Noida.

Sachan said that in view of the success of UPITS, the government had decided to expand such trade events from the divisional level to every district. “Entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, including Khadi, textiles and ODOP, will participate, with officials already tasked with identifying suitable venues,” the statement noted.

The minister also highlighted the significance of GST reforms, pointing out that for the first time since the introduction of GST, large-scale relief measures had been implemented, giving a fresh push to the MSME sector.

Expressing concern over declining Khadi production and showrooms, Sachan said the government was holding continuous consultations with experts and stakeholders. Plans are also being considered to open Khadi showrooms in universities to connect the younger generation with the fabric.

He emphasised the environmental and health benefits of Khadi, noting that it is natural, pure and safe compared to many fabrics currently available in the market. He also rejected the perception that Khadi is expensive, clarifying that it is more affordable than many other fabrics.

Sachan further said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office, Khadi had gained a renewed national identity. With efforts to integrate Khadi with modern design and technology, sales of Khadi products have more than doubled in recent years.
