UPITS 2025: Irrigation Department Showcases Water Management Projects

At the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS 2025) in Greater Noida, the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation and Water Resources Department presented its recent water management projects, including those implemented during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

The department displayed a SCADA-enabled mobile model of the Bhimgoda Barrage, showing how real-time monitoring can improve canal operations, flood control, and maintenance planning.

Another exhibit, the Narayanpur Pump Canal model, demonstrated how water from the Ganga is lifted to irrigate more than 2.5 lakh hectares across Mirzapur and Chandauli districts, reported The Times of India.

Other features highlighted at the stall included the merging of river channels to expand bathing areas at the Maha Kumbh, dredging works to improve water conveyance, and the integration of remote sensing and sensor networks for canal management.

Officials said the exhibit was aimed at showcasing sustainable water management and building confidence in the department’s capacity to deliver large-scale infrastructure solutions.
