Phaphamau Bridge in Prayagraj Reopens for Light Vehicles

The Phaphamau Bridge in Prayagraj reopened for light vehicles on 26 September after being closed since 9 September for repair and strengthening work.

According to officials, cars, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers are now allowed to use the bridge. Heavy vehicles such as trucks and buses will be permitted from 30 September, once the concrete used in the strengthening process has set completely.

The bridge is a key link connecting Prayagraj with trans-Ganga areas including Kaurihar, Holagarh, and Mauaima, and also serves commuters travelling towards Lucknow, Pratapgarh, and Ayodhya.

Its closure earlier this month had forced traffic to take diversions of up to 60 kilometres, reported The Times of India.

Local residents, school teachers, and medical staff welcomed the reopening, which restores a direct route across the Ganga.

To manage the resumed flow, traffic police and home guard personnel have been deployed on both sides of the bridge.
