Delhi–NCR rapid rail project nears completion milestone

The 82 km Yamuna rapid rail corridor in Delhi–NCR is nearing a major infrastructure milestone and is set for inauguration.

The project includes a 1.3 km bridge over the Yamuna, supported by 32 pillars, forming a key structural component of the corridor. The alignment also consists of a mix of elevated and underground sections designed to optimise connectivity across densely populated areas, reported The Times of India.

Advanced tunnelling techniques have been used during construction, particularly in underground sections, to manage space constraints and maintain structural safety.

Officials said the corridor is designed to improve speed, safety and energy efficiency, while also reducing travel time across cities in the National Capital Region. The project is expected to support smoother regional movement and ease pressure on existing road networks.
