Two high-speed rail corridors proposed for Varanasi

Varanasi is set to benefit from the proposed Delhi–Varanasi and Varanasi–Siliguri high-speed rail corridors, as outlined in the Union Budget 2026–27, officials said.

The proposed corridors aim to improve inter-city connectivity and reduce travel time between Varanasi and other major regions, reported The Times of India.

Officials said the projects are part of a broader plan to expand high-speed rail infrastructure across the country and strengthen links between key cities.

The proposals are expected to support economic activity, tourism and urban development in and around Varanasi.
