RInfra to build integrated solar and battery manufacturing ecosystem

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group on Monday said Reliance Infrastructure is setting up one of India’s most advanced, fully integrated solar manufacturing ecosystems, spanning ingots, wafers, cells and modules.

According to the company’s investor presentation, the upcoming facility will use next-generation technology and is designed to plug India’s widening demand-supply gap. The country is expected to require 55–60 GW of solar modules annually by 2030, while upstream capacity remains significantly short.

Reliance Infrastructure said the project will operate as a high-value, vertically integrated platform aimed at reducing import dependence and strengthening India’s clean energy security.

The group is also establishing an end-to-end battery manufacturing ecosystem that will include cell manufacturing, pack assembly and grid-scale containerised battery energy storage systems (BESS).

As per the presentation, India’s installed stationary storage base is less than 1 GWh today and is projected to rise to 250 GWh by 2032. Domestic manufacturing currently meets less than 10 per cent of expected demand.

In a separate investor presentation, Reliance Power said its subsidiary Reliance NU Energies is driving the shift from plain-vanilla solar to hybrid and firm, round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy solutions.
