Prayagraj–Chitrakoot Regional Development Authority to Drive Growth Across Six Districts

The Uttar Pradesh government is moving forward with plans to create a Prayagraj–Chitrakoot Regional Development Authority to promote coordinated growth across six districts: Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Banda, Hamirpur, Kaushambi, and Fatehpur.

Spanning approximately 23,053 sq km and covering 27 tehsils, the proposed authority borrows from the model of the National Capital Region (NCR).

The aim is to enhance infrastructure connectivity, promote agro-based industry, and support tourism, while also addressing regional inequalities.

Local officials say detailed district-level proposals have already been submitted to the state government, and a formal announcement is expected soon following review by a high-level committee headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
