NTPC adds 800 MW to capacity after Patratu unit trial operation

NTPC Ltd has expanded its installed capacity to 84,849 MW following the successful completion of trial operations of an 800 MW unit at its Patratu Super Thermal Power Project.

In a regulatory filing, the company said that its subsidiary, Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd, had completed the trial operation of Unit-1 of the project’s first stage.

“Unit-1 (800 MW) of Patratu Super Thermal Power Project, stage-1 (3×800 MW) of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd has successfully completed the trial operation and consequently included in the installed capacity of the NTPC Group with effect from October 16,” the filing said.

The Patratu project is being developed in multiple stages, and the addition of this unit marks another step in NTPC’s capacity expansion.

With the inclusion of the new unit, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has now reached 84,849 MW.
