Five of India’s top-10 companies add Rs 72k crore in value; TCS, Infosys lead

Five of India’s 10 most-valued companies added a combined Rs 72,284.74 crore in market capitalisation last week, even as benchmark indices ended mixed. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys led the gains, contributing the largest share of the rise.

Bharti Airtel, TCS, ICICI Bank, Infosys and Bajaj Finance were the weekly gainers, while Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) saw a decline in valuation.

During the week, the BSE benchmark managed a marginal uptick of 5.7 points, whereas the NSE Nifty slipped 16.5 points.

TCS registered the strongest advance, adding Rs 35,909.52 crore to take its valuation to Rs 11,71,862.37 crore. Infosys followed with a Rs 23,404.55 crore rise, pushing its market capitalisation to Rs 6,71,366.53 crore.

Bajaj Finance’s valuation increased by Rs 6,720.28 crore to Rs 6,52,396.39 crore, while Bharti Airtel gained Rs 3,791.9 crore, taking its mcap to Rs 12,01,832.74 crore. ICICI Bank added Rs 2,458.49 crore, reaching Rs 9,95,184.46 crore.

Among the laggards, Reliance Industries saw the steepest erosion, shedding Rs 35,116.76 crore to end at Rs 20,85,218.71 crore. LIC’s valuation declined by Rs 15,559.49 crore to Rs 5,50,021.80 crore, and State Bank of India fell by Rs 7,522.96 crore to Rs 8,96,662.19 crore.

HDFC Bank’s market capitalisation dropped by Rs 5,724.03 crore to Rs 15,43,019.64 crore, while Larsen & Toubro dipped by Rs 4,185.39 crore to Rs 5,55,459.56 crore.

Reliance Industries continued to hold its position as India’s most-valued company, followed by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, TCS, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro and LIC.
