Kanpur elevated road project approved from Gol Chauraha to Ramadevi

The central government has approved a 10.2 km elevated road project in Kanpur from Gol Chauraha to Ramadevi Chauraha to ease traffic congestion in the city.

The project has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 988.30 crore. Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari announced the sanction on social media on February 24.

Officials said ramps are planned at Jhakarkati Bus Stand, Jarib Chauki and COD Crossing. The elevated road is expected to improve traffic movement at these busy points, reported The Times of India.

Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi, who met Gadkari in Delhi to discuss infrastructure projects, said the minister is expected to lay the foundation stone in April.

Officials said the project is expected to improve connectivity on one of the city’s key corridors and reduce traffic pressure on the existing road network.
