Indore’s ICCC: A City’s Brain for Governance and Smarter Operations

Indore’s Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) is a central nervous system for the city—aggregating data across municipal services to improve responsiveness and decision-making.

Launched under the Smart Cities Mission, Indore became the fifth city in India to deploy such a system, consolidating operations within a high-tech command center equipped with analytics and alert mechanisms to monitor everything from waste management to water supply, traffic, and citizen complaints. 

Operational in under seven months, the ICCC pulls data in real-time from field teams via city-GIS, mobile apps, and service dashboards. 

The platform enables swift response to civic issues and allows administrators situational awareness across departments—reducing duplication and streamlining tasks. 

Notably, Indore pairs its ICCC with projects like waste-disposal scheduling, vertical gardens, and smart traffic control. The ICCC has helped maintain its cleanest-city title by ensuring operations are data-driven and proactive.

As the Smart Cities Mission period concludes in 2025, Indore faces the challenge of sustaining the ICCC—continuing operational costs, system upgrades, and integration with future governance workflows. 

Pune’s model of integrating its ICCC into flood management is one example smart cities can follow.
