Hettich opens new Indore facility, targets India as global production base

German furniture fittings manufacturer Hettich has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, as part of its plans to position India as a key global manufacturing hub.

The facility is the company’s first dedicated manufacturing unit in India for undermount drawer runners. It forms part of Hettich’s overall investment of approximately Rs 2,000 crore in the country, the company said in a statement.

The new automated plant spans 25,700 sq. metre and is located within Hettich’s 103,039 sq. metre Indore facility. According to the statement, the new unit reflects the company’s continued commitment to India and aims to expand jobs, exports and local manufacturing capabilities while bringing German engineering to the country.

“Hettich’s hinge manufacturing unit at the Indore facility has an annual production capacity of approximately 60 million hinges. With the addition of the new Quadro plant, the facility will further produce around 5 million units of undermount drawer runners annually, significantly strengthening Hettich’s manufacturing capabilities in India,” the company said.

The Indore facility manufactures a range of furniture fittings, including hinges, sliding profiles, aluminium profiles and Cube Plus systems. The company said this makes the location one of Hettich’s significant manufacturing bases globally.

“With an overall investment of over Rs 2,000 crore and a continued focus on BIS-certified manufacturing, we are reinforcing our Built to Lead commitment while steadily expanding our Made in India portfolio,” said Andre Eckholt, Managing Director, Hettich India, SAARC, Middle East & Africa.

Eckholt added that India is “central to their long-term global strategy”, where the company is building a foundation for future expansion while reinforcing its vision of ‘Made in India, Made for the World’.
