Haryana pushes horticulture with new farmer subsidy schemes

The Haryana government has announced new provisions to promote the cultivation of horticultural crops, offering financial support to farmers growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, and aromatic plants.

A spokesperson for the Horticulture Department said the initiative aims to motivate farmers to diversify into horticulture by providing subsidies for establishing fruit orchards and adopting integrated vegetable cultivation models.

According to the department, farmers will receive subsidies ranging from Rs 24,500 to Rs 1,40,000 per acre for establishing new fruit orchards, Rs 15,000 per acre for vegetable cultivation under the integrated model, and Rs 25,500 per acre for Scheduled Caste farmers. Assistance of Rs 15,000–Rs 30,000 per acre will be provided for spice cultivation, Rs 8,000–Rs 40,000 per acre for flower cultivation, and Rs 8,000 per acre for aromatic plant cultivation.

“The subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the farmer’s bank account, with the maximum limit set at five acres,” the spokesperson said.

Farmers interested in availing these benefits can register on the Meri Fasal-Mera Byora and Hortnet portals (hortnet.hortharyana.gov.in). The registration process requires documents such as the application form, Parivar Pehchan Patra (family ID), complete bank account details, and a Scheduled Caste certificate where applicable.

The scheme is part of the state’s efforts to enhance farmers’ income and promote crop diversification through sustainable horticultural practices.
