Gurugram to build sewage treatment plants in five villages

The Municipal Corporation of Manesar will build sewage treatment plants (STPs) in five villages to address the problem of untreated wastewater, with the project estimated to cost around Rs 6 crore.

The villages are Naurangpur, Nainwal, Kasan, Bhangrola and Jhunda Sarai.

According to the report published on Friday, August 28, construction has already begun in Naurangpur and Nainwal, while the process for construction in Kasan, Bhangrola and Jhunda Sarai is under way.

The proposed STPs will have different capacities depending on the requirements of each village.

Jhunda Sarai will get a 1 MLD STP, while Naurangpur, Nainwal, Kasan and Bhangrola will each have a 3 MLD plant.

Once operational, the treatment plants are expected to address the problem of wastewater accumulating in village streets.

Two STPs are already operational for sewage disposal in Manesar and Naharpar Kasan villages.

The wastewater from Naurangpur and Nainwal had earlier been sent to an STP operated by the National Security Guard (NSG).

Officials said work in the remaining three villages will begin after the ongoing process is completed.

Municipal Corporation of Manesar executive engineer Mandeep Dhankhar said the STPs would provide relief from wastewater-related problems in the villages.
