DP World pledges USD 5 billion investment in India’s logistics and infrastructure

Global logistics giant DP World on Thursday announced an investment commitment of USD 5 billion in India to develop ports, logistics parks, and multimodal transport corridors over the next decade.

The announcement was made by Group Chairman and CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem at a business roundtable in New Delhi. He said the new investment reflects the company’s confidence in India’s infrastructure growth and global trade potential, Reuters reported.

“India is an essential market for DP World, and this investment will help strengthen its logistics backbone and improve global connectivity,” Sulayem said.

DP World, which already operates five container terminals across the country—including at Mundra, Nhava Sheva, and Cochin—plans to expand capacity and enhance last-mile connectivity for key industrial corridors. The company has invested more than USD 2.5 billion in India since 2002.

According to Commerce Ministry officials, the proposed investments will align with India’s Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aimed at integrating infrastructure projects for efficient movement of goods, Reuters reported.

DP World’s new initiative will include digital logistics solutions, green energy integration, and port modernisation projects expected to create thousands of jobs across coastal states.
