Delhi expands infra push with parking facility and road upgrades

A six-level parking facility has opened to the public in Nehru Place, one of Delhi’s busiest commercial centres, even as the city government announced a multi-crore funding package to upgrade civic infrastructure under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The parking facility, built at a cost of Rs 62.4 crore, spans nearly 30,000 square metres. Officials said the structure is expected to ease traffic congestion and reduce parking pressure in the IT and business district.

Separately, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a funding package to strengthen roads, sanitation and school infrastructure across the city.

The plan includes Rs 1,330 crore to strengthen around 1,000 km of roads under the MCD, reported The Times of India.

A Rs 2,300 crore sanitation programme has also been announced, which includes procurement of mechanical sweepers and electric litter pickers.

Funds have additionally been allocated for upgrading schools and community buildings across Delhi.

The announcements are part of ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and civic services in the capital.
