Karnataka has received Rs 4,164.95 crore for cooperative development: Amit Shah

The Centre has disbursed Rs 4,164.95 crore so far for cooperative development in Karnataka, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Shah, in his written reply, said the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) had cumulatively disbursed Rs 4,67,455.66 crore as of November 25 for the development of cooperative institutions across the country.

“Out of which Rs 4,164.95 crore has been disbursed for cooperative development in Karnataka,” Shah said.

According to the National Cooperative Database (NCD), Karnataka has 46,798 cooperative societies with 2.38 crore members.

Since its formation in 2021, the Ministry of Cooperation has undertaken several initiatives to realise the vision of ‘Sahakar-se-Samriddhi’ and to strengthen dairy, sugar and agri-cooperatives across the country, including Karnataka, Shah added.
