Sambhajinagar’s STPs Receive Rs 5.6 Crore Central Grant Under AMRUT 2.0

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has secured a total grant of ₹5.6 crore from the Centre under the Jal Hi AMRIT (JHA) initiative, a component of AMRUT 2.0.

The funding supports three sewage-treatment plants (STPs): a 161 MLD capacity unit received Rs 3.5 crore, a 35 MLD plant was awarded Rs 70 lakh and a 10 MLD plant got Rs 1.4 crore.

The funds were transferred to the municipal bank account on 15 October 2025.

The grant underlines the federal push to strengthen urban local bodies and enhance treated waste-water reuse.

City Engineer Farooq Khan pointed out that the incentive programme evaluates operational efficiency and reuse of treated effluent, while Municipal Commissioner G Sreekanth lauded the civic body’s drainage department for achieving this recognition.
