Bhopal Metro gets power boost with commissioning of new transformer

A 200 MVA power transformer has been successfully energised at the 220 kV Govindpura substation to support the Bhopal Metro project, officials said.

The transformer was commissioned by Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MP Transco) and will provide a reliable electricity supply for metro operations, reported The Times of India.

Energy minister Pradyumn Singh Tomar said the commissioning of the transformer marks an important step in strengthening power infrastructure for the city’s metro system.

Officials said engineers overcame space constraints at the substation to complete the installation, which is expected to support the smooth functioning of the Bhopal Metro network.
