Andhra Pradesh launches Rs 66,523-crore Urban Infrastructure Acceleration Mission

The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday launched the Urban Infrastructure Acceleration Mission, a major development programme with a financial outlay of Rs 66,523 crore to strengthen civic and transport infrastructure across the state.

Announced at a press briefing in Vijayawada, the initiative aims to upgrade existing urban networks while creating new projects through public–private partnership (PPP) models.

Officials said the mission is being positioned as one of the largest urban-modernisation efforts in the state, covering roads, mobility systems, housing, civic amenities, and smart-city-linked improvements.

According to the state government, the mission aligns with its plan to create “future-ready cities” that can support economic growth and rising urban populations.

The rollout will happen in phases across major municipalities and emerging urban clusters.

Senior officials added that the mission prioritises improving livability, attracting investment, and expanding employment opportunities by developing sustainable and modern infrastructure, reported UNI.
