Andhra Pradesh signs UK pact for urban infra development

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has signed a Government-to-Government Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Kingdom to support urban infrastructure development across the state.

The agreement was signed at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Tuesday, August 25, between MA&UD Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar and Chaz Walia, Deputy Director for Government to Government at the UK Department for Business and Trade.

The partnership will support the development of Amaravati as a world-class smart city and help upgrade urban infrastructure across all 123 municipalities in Andhra Pradesh.

The cooperation covers infrastructure planning, sustainable urban development, technology transfer and innovation, and integrated urban mobility.

The partnership is aimed at bringing UK expertise and technology into urban planning and infrastructure development in the state.

The agreement also provides a framework for cooperation on sustainable urban development and modern mobility systems.

The pact comes as Andhra Pradesh steps up efforts to develop Amaravati and strengthen urban infrastructure across its municipalities.
