Andhra Pradesh leads proposed investments with 25.3% share in FY26: Report

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the leading destination for proposed investments in India, accounting for 25.3 per cent of the total investment proposals during the first nine months of FY26, the state government said on Saturday, citing a report by Bank of Baroda (BOB).

According to the report, Andhra Pradesh ranked ahead of Odisha, which accounted for 13.1 per cent of proposed investments, and Maharashtra, which stood at 12.8 per cent. The data points to a shift in industrial and investment momentum towards the eastern and southern regions of the country.

“Andhra Pradesh has firmly established itself as India’s leading investment destination, capturing a remarkable 25.3 percent of all proposed investments in the first nine months of FY26,” an official government press release said, quoting the Bank of Baroda report.

The report noted that Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Maharashtra together accounted for over 51 per cent of India’s total proposed capital investment during the period. Overall investment announcements stood at around Rs 26 lakh crore, marking an increase of 11.5 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

Reacting to the figures, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh said the state was moving ahead of other regions in attracting investments.

“Andhra Pradesh isn’t catching up, it’s pulling ahead,” Lokesh said in a post on X.

He attributed the state’s performance to consistent reforms, faster decision-making and a predictable policy environment focused on enabling industry and ensuring timely project execution.

According to the state government, investor-friendly governance, sector-specific policies and infrastructure development across ports, industrial corridors, logistics, energy and digital sectors have contributed to attracting large-scale investment commitments.

Lokesh said the government would continue to prioritise job creation and focus on ensuring that investment announcements translate into projects on the ground.
