Ahmedabad Metro airport extension to add direct rail link to terminal

The approved Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2A extension is set to provide direct metro connectivity to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, marking a significant expansion of the city’s urban transport network.

The project involves a 6.032-km extension between Koteshwar Road and the airport and has an estimated cost of ₹2,169 crore.

Officials said the corridor will include five stations, including one underground station.

Upon completion, the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro network will expand to 77.63 km.

Authorities said the airport extension is intended to improve public transport access, reduce dependence on road travel and strengthen integration between key transport hubs.

The project is among the most significant metro infrastructure schemes currently planned in Gujarat.
