Pune fast-tracks land acquisition for Inner Ring Road

Authorities in Pune are accelerating the land acquisition process for the city’s long-planned Inner Ring Road, a key project aimed at easing traffic congestion and strengthening the city’s transport network.

At a review meeting chaired by Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, officials were directed to begin physical measurement of the required plots by September 10, along with preparing maps and completing other technical formalities.

The meeting was also attended by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, along with senior officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the revenue department, and project consultants Monarch Consultants.

Officials reviewed the current status of land availability, details of affected landowners, and other governance requirements for the project. The Collector and Commissioner instructed all departments — PMRDA, PMC, the land acquisition office, and revenue authorities — to coordinate closely and avoid unnecessary delays at any stage.

Departments involved in the project have also been asked to maintain regular coordination, submit periodic progress reports, and resolve pending issues on a priority basis. The time-bound push is intended to speed up land availability for the next phase of construction on the Inner Ring Road, which is designed to divert through-traffic away from Pune’s congested core.
