Delhi water overhaul plan proposes Rs 11,427 crore investment

The Delhi government has proposed a Rs 11,427-crore overhaul of water infrastructure in west and southwest Delhi, with plans including underground reservoirs and new pipelines.

The proposed investment is aimed at strengthening the city’s water-supply network and improving distribution infrastructure in areas facing capacity and supply-related challenges.

The plan includes the construction of underground reservoirs, replacement and expansion of pipelines and other measures to strengthen the water network.

The proposed works are intended to improve storage capacity and distribution while addressing infrastructure gaps in west and southwest Delhi.

The large-scale water infrastructure programme comes as the capital continues to expand and demand for reliable water supply increases.

The government is expected to take up the proposed works in phases as part of efforts to strengthen Delhi’s long-term water infrastructure.
