Telangana proposes Rs 6 lakh crore urban infra fund for major cities

Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy has proposed the creation of an M-6 Task Force for six major growth centres — Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The proposal includes a dedicated Rs 6 lakh crore urban infrastructure fund, with Rs 1 lakh crore allocated for each of the six cities.

Officials said the proposal was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting held on June 11.

The proposed fund is intended to support infrastructure development and improve urban services in major metropolitan regions.

Authorities said the objective is to strengthen economic growth through targeted infrastructure investment in large urban centres.

The proposal calls for coordinated planning and implementation across participating cities.

Officials indicated that the initiative is aimed at addressing future urbanisation challenges and supporting long-term infrastructure requirements.

The proposal is currently under consideration.
