Chandigarh plans AI Centre of Excellence for governance and innovation

Chandigarh is planning to establish an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI-CoE) as part of efforts to strengthen technology-led governance and innovation.

Officials said the proposed centre will focus on artificial intelligence applications in governance, public-service delivery, research and startup development, reported The Times of India.

The initiative is expected to bring together government departments, academic institutions, industry stakeholders and technology experts to support AI-based solutions for urban administration.

Authorities said the project is aimed at improving efficiency in public services and encouraging innovation-driven development in the city.

The proposed centre will also support research activities and skill development linked to emerging technologies.

Officials indicated that the AI-CoE would help Chandigarh position itself as a hub for technology-led governance and innovation.

The project forms part of broader efforts to integrate digital technologies into city administration and public-service systems.

Authorities are currently working on the framework and implementation roadmap for the initiative.
