Maharashtra civic body expands use of TDR model for infra projects

The Besa-Pipla Nagar Panchayat in Maharashtra has expanded the use of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) as a financing mechanism for civic infrastructure projects.

Officials said developers undertake public infrastructure works in exchange for development rights instead of direct government payments.

Authorities have now initiated a second project under the model involving road and drainage infrastructure, reported The Times of India.
