Bengaluru to develop 50 km of pedestrian-friendly footpaths

The Greater Bengaluru Authority has announced plans to develop 50 km of safe and accessible footpaths in the Mahadevapura zone.

The work will focus on stretches along metro corridors and is expected to be completed within two months.

Inspections carried out in the area identified issues such as broken slabs, encroachments, construction debris and electrical hazards affecting pedestrian movement, reported The Times of India.

Officials said the initiative will include removal of obstacles and improvements to ensure continuous and safe walkways.

The project is part of efforts to improve urban mobility and pedestrian infrastructure in the city.
