DDA approves Rs 14,962 crore budget, plans urbanisation of 48 villages

The Delhi Development Authority has approved a Rs 14,962 crore budget for 2026–27, which includes plans to urbanise 48 villages currently under rural land norms.

The decision will bring these villages under urban planning frameworks such as land pooling and transit-oriented development (TOD).

Officials said the move is aimed at enabling planned development and improving infrastructure in areas that are currently governed by rural regulations, reported The Times of India.

The authority has also approved measures to monetise land as part of efforts to support infrastructure expansion and funding requirements.

The proposals form part of a broader strategy to expand urban infrastructure and accommodate future growth in the capital.
