Jaipur and Ajmer get major civic infrastructure funding boost

The state budget announced substantial funding for urban local bodies, focusing on core civic infrastructure including street lighting, drainage systems, flood control, sanitation, parking and digital civic services.

A major component of the allocation is the installation of about 7 lakh energy-efficient streetlights, with an investment exceeding Rs 500 crore, reported The Times of India.

For drainage and flood-control projects, Jaipur has been allocated Rs 500 crore, while Ajmer has been allotted Rs 200 crore.

In addition, Rs 1,020 crore has been earmarked for similar works across eight other districts. A separate Rs 40 crore provision has been made for preparing master stormwater drainage plans.

Urban mobility measures include a Rs 10 crore multi-storey parking facility in Mount Abu-Sirohi and smart parking projects in five cities. EV charging stations will be introduced at 100 key parking locations through a public-private partnership model.

To strengthen service delivery, Smart Service Centres providing online access to certificates and permits will be established across urban local bodies. Other provisions include 300 mobile toilets at a cost of Rs 30 crore, facility centres for residents and tourists in Jaipur and Ajmer, dog shelters funded with Rs 40 crore, and eco-cooling shelters at major public locations.
