Coimbatore receives Rs 202.5 crore for Noyyal riverfront project

The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation has received an administrative sanction of Rs 202.5 crore from the Tamil Nadu government for the Noyyal Riverfront Development Project, officials said.

The project will cover a 4.3-kilometre stretch from Nanjundapuram to Athupalam.

Planned works include strengthening of river bunds, construction of a seven-metre-wide approach road, and development of parks, open-air gyms and viewpoints along the riverfront, reported The Times of India.

The project also includes the construction of three sewage treatment plants (STPs) to improve wastewater management.

Officials said tenders for the project are expected to close by early March, after which construction work will begin.
