Delhi Gate junction to get Rs 4.6 crore redevelopment

The Public Works Department has proposed a Rs 4.6 crore redevelopment project for the Delhi Gate junction on Asaf Ali Road in New Delhi, aiming to improve traffic movement and public accessibility in the area.

According to the proposal, the junction will be redesigned with a landscaped central island featuring seating areas and a fountain, reported The Times of India. The plan also includes paved walkways, a children’s play area, a skating rink, and parking facilities.

The redevelopment covers the stretch between Netaji Subhash Marg and Asaf Ali Road, which serves as a key approach to the Red Fort.

As part of the project, the selected contractor will be responsible for obtaining regulatory clearances, preparing as-built drawings, conducting pre-commissioning tests, and meeting warranty requirements. The contractor will also assess soil conditions and submit a detailed work schedule to ensure timely execution.

Officials said the project is aimed at improving both functionality and public use of the junction once completed.
