India’s $10bn green hydrogen project at Andhra’s Kakinada moves ahead

A USD 10 billion green hydrogen and green ammonia project at the port city of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh will reach a key construction milestone on January 17, as India advances its push to become a global supplier of clean energy.

The first major equipment erection ceremony of AM Green’s Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Complex will be held on Friday and will be attended by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Konidala Pawan Kalyan, state government officials said.

The project, with a total investment of USD 10 billion, is among the largest clean energy investments in India to date and is aimed at supplying green energy to international markets, including Germany, Japan and Singapore.

During the construction phase, the project is expected to generate up to 8,000 jobs, with additional high-skill employment anticipated during operations and across allied sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, storage and port services.
