Skoda doubles India sales in 2025 as Mahindra reports strong December SUV demand

Skoda Auto India on Thursday reported a more than two-fold increase in total sales to 72,665 units in 2025, compared to 35,166 units in 2024, marking its strongest-ever sales performance in the country.

The automaker said the milestone coincided with its 25th anniversary in India, adding that the performance was supported by its expanded product portfolio and wider network presence.

Commenting on the development, Skoda Auto India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said, “2025 marks the brand’s 25th anniversary in India, and it has seen us with our most enhanced and diverse product portfolio ever, and we are now at our widest when it comes to network and market presence.”

Sharing the outlook for the coming year, Gupta said, “As we step into 2026, we look forward to carrying this momentum forward with a renewed product offensive, sharper sales and aftersales initiatives, and an even stronger focus on expanding our reach and getting closer to our customers.”

Separately, Mahindra & Mahindra reported a 23% rise in the December sales of its sports utility vehicles (SUVs) to dealers, driven by sustained demand following tax reductions.

In September, India cut the tax on SUVs with engines above 1,500 cc to 40% from about 50% to boost demand. The revision applies to most of Mahindra’s SUV portfolio.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki, along with Hyundai India and Tata Motors, are yet to announce their sales figures.
