PM Modi invites Jordanian firms to invest in India, highlights over 8% growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited Jordanian companies to invest in India, saying they can expect good returns as the country is growing at over 8 per cent.

Speaking at the India-Jordan Business Forum meet in Amman, Modi said India is set to become the world’s third-largest economy and offers opportunities for Jordanian companies to be part of its growth story.

The Prime Minister said India’s high GDP growth is driven by productivity-focused governance and innovation-led growth policies.

Modi said that while numbers matter in the business world, his visit to Jordan is aimed at building a long-term relationship between the two countries.

“The relationship between India and Jordan is one where historical trust and future economic opportunities come together,” he said.

Highlighting India’s economic momentum, Modi said the country is growing at a fast pace, opening up new opportunities for Jordanian companies as well.

“You (Jordan) can become a partner in India’s high growth and earn good returns on your investments,” he said.

Modi said Indian companies operating in Jordan can manufacture medicines and medical devices, which would benefit the people of Jordan. He added that Jordan could also emerge as a reliable manufacturing hub for West Asia and Africa.

Outlining potential areas of bilateral cooperation, the Prime Minister said India has significant experience in farming in dry climatic conditions.

“This experience of ours can make a real difference in Jordan. We can work on solutions like precision farming and micro-irrigation. We can also collaborate on building cold chains, food parks, and storage facilities,” he said.

Modi arrived in Jordan’s capital Amman on Monday on a two-day visit at the invitation of King Abdullah II. Jordan is the first leg of the Prime Minister’s four-day, three-nation tour, which will also include visits to Ethiopia and Oman.
