Hinduja Group to invest Rs 20,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh for energy, EV projects

The Hinduja Group has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to invest Rs 20,000 crore in the state across renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) sectors, the Chief Minister’s Office said on Monday.

The deal was finalised during Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s meeting in London with Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group India; Prakash Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group Europe; and Shom Hinduja, Founder of Hinduja Renewables.

According to the state government, the investment will be made in phases. The group will expand the capacity of its Visakhapatnam power plant by 1,600 MW and establish large-scale solar and wind power projects in the Rayalaseema region.

In addition, the Hinduja Group plans to set up an electric bus and light commercial vehicle manufacturing facility at Mallavalli in Krishna district, strengthening the state’s electric mobility ecosystem.

A statewide network of EV charging stations will also be developed in partnership with the government to promote clean transport initiatives.

Chief Minister Naidu said the collaboration reflects Andhra Pradesh’s growing prominence as a centre for renewable energy and sustainable industrial development.
