Delhi airport’s revamped Terminal 2 resumes operations

Flight operations resumed at Delhi airport’s refurbished Terminal 2 (T2) on Sunday, with IndiGo and Air India starting domestic flights.

The terminal, which was closed in April for renovation, is now operational again, taking the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s (IGIA) total passenger handling capacity to over 100 million annually.

All three terminals — T1, T2 and T3 — are now functioning.

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), operated by a GMR Group-led consortium, said on X, “Future Ready, Feature packed, Terminal 2 Back in action.”

Together, IndiGo and Air India will operate around 120 domestic flights daily from T2.

The upgraded terminal can handle up to 15 million passengers annually and now includes Self Baggage Drop (SBD) kiosks, allowing passengers to check in their luggage independently to reduce waiting time.

Six new Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs) have also been added to improve boarding efficiency.

IGIA currently manages more than 1,300 flight movements daily.
