Smart City: Jhansi Transforms into Mini Metro with Tech Upgrades

Jhansi is rapidly transforming under its Smart City mission, blending heritage, infrastructure, and digital governance into a “mini metro” model.

Recent upgrades include widened roads, new parks, improved public transport, and heritage restoration. The city has also revitalised significant landmarks like Jhansi Fort, which now features lighting, cultural events, and a panoramic light-and-sound experience.

Civic amenities have also been bolstered: new museums such as a Space Museum and Major Dhyan Chand Museum offer interactive exhibits, while the State Museum underwent digital upgrades.

A key institutional upgrade is the launch of an Integrated Command & Control Center (ICCC), which monitors urban operations like traffic, safety, and public services via CCTV and real-time data feeds.

To promote eco-mobility, Jhansi introduced a bike-sharing scheme, placing 200 bicycles across the city.

According to municipal commissioner Satya Prakash, the goal is to improve resident quality of life and strengthen Jhansi’s appeal both as a modern city and heritage destination.

Earlier reports also highlight that under the Jhansi Smart City programme, the city had identified 66 projects spanning water conservation, digital infrastructure, heritage preservation, and citizen services.
