Goa Government Moves to Tap Central Schemes for Infrastructure & Welfare Growth

The Goa government has decided to strategically identify central government schemes that offer 100 per cent financial assistance in order to accelerate infrastructure and welfare projects across the state.

Under this initiative, officials will appoint consultants to work with various state departments to align development proposals with central funding guidelines.

These schemes will cover sectors such as transport, water supply, urban development, health, education, agriculture and social welfare.

A senior state official said, “Preference should be given to those schemes that receive 100 per cent central assistance.” The consultants will assist in preparing DPRs (Detailed Project Reports), techno-economic feasibility reports, and other required documentation to meet eligibility criteria.

The government believes tapping fully funded central schemes will ease pressure on the state exchequer while boosting development in priority sectors. This move is also seen as a push to make Goa one of India’s more developed states.
