Nashik Civic Body Upgrades Quality Lab Ahead of Kumbh Mela 2026

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has upgraded its quality control laboratory to ensure better testing of construction materials and infrastructure ahead of the 2026–28 Kumbh Mela.

As reported by The Times of India, the lab now includes advanced machinery to test roads, bridges, water pipelines, and other civic projects. Earlier this year, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri had inspected the older facility and found it inadequate for upcoming works.

The improved facility will play a central role in the broader Rs 15,000 crore Kumbh development plan. Out of this, Rs 3,200 crore has already been approved for the first phase by the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority.

Officials emphasised that the revamped lab will improve accountability, compliance with standards, and the overall quality of civic works undertaken for the massive pilgrimage event, which is expected to draw millions of visitors.
